Infrastructure Development

Pacific
Asian Atlantic Foundation
has made the commitment to provide solutions to the infrastructure
development problems that plague developing communities throughout
the under-developed countries of the world. We believe a key element
to stabilizing a community or region is to insure self-reliance
on basic infrastructure development by supporting the development
of service oriented Public Works departments.
We believe the
natural resources that exist in most any given country are substantial.
The value of which can be used to create sufficient credit worthiness
to give the Public Works department the ability to finance the development
of basic commercial infrastructure. Basic commercial infrastructure
development projects include, but are not limited to, transportation,
communications, water, power and waste management. However, it would
be a gross error to approach the problems of infrastructure development
in under-developed countries with the notion of building multi-lane
freeways, optical fiber communication systems, hydroelectric power
plants and other such grand objectives.
Not that there
is anything wrong with grand objectives. However, the infrastructure
development problems are not grand in scale in under-developed countries.
Rather, the problems are huge in deficiency. Yes, huge in deficiency
because of the vast number of people who do not have basic infrastructure
or public services. But, case-by-case, the infrastructure development
problems are small in scale, easily solved, one problem at a time;
one town at a time; one village at a time. PAAF provides micro solutions
to a multitude of micro problems and avoids the notion of a macro
solution to macro problem.
Therefore, PAA
Foundation turned its attention to alternative new and advanced
technologies for solutions to the infrastructure development problems
of a community, a town or a village. The criteria for selecting
new alternative technologies are 1.) The technology must represent
a real solution to the infrastructure development problem at hand;
2.) The technology must be economically sound and have true potential
for the development of sustaining businesses; 3.) The technology
must be environmentally safe.
As part of our
research PAAF has identified technologies in several areas of interest
that meet the above criteria. The technologies are:
| Road
Reconstruction -
The lack of all-weather roads is a major problem that affects
commerce in under-developed countries as well as developing
countries. |
 |
|
Water
Reclamation -
Today we are faced with the loss of life in the tens of thousands
due to the lack of life sustaining drinking water.
|
 |
|
Energy
Projects -
Power for economic growth, modern community survival and daily
convenience is a necessity.
|
 |
|
Waste
Management Systems -
Communities around the world are faced with environmental
contamination and diseases due to inadequate means of waste
management.
|
 |
In addition,
a fourth aspect to the solution of infrastructure problems that
PAAF seeks to include are alternative new technologies, which can
be deployed to resolve emergency conditions in communities worldwide
in the form of a Mobile Humanitarian Task
Force.
